Im sure what you are getting is interference from the alternator.

Is it a kinda wirring noise that goes up and down with the engine revs?

Check for bad earths on the head unit and make sure your speaker cables are not running next to anything that may interfear with them, such as large power cables for ampliers (if you have one fitted)

Noise suppressors should be fitted to the alternator and ignition coil. Altho i do not have one on my coil and receve no interference.

do you have any amps etc, never run rca's next to power leads sounds obvious but simple things are over-looked this would cause interference

yep keep your signal and power wires seperate. also where possible try to ground all your equipment at the same place, and make sure all the cars ground straps ar a+.

what you could be experienceing is ground-loop related interference. you can buy a "ground loop isolator" from maplins that goes inline with the RCA leads. asuming the interference is comeing out after an amp.

you may also wish to try an altyernative place to wire the stereo's "ignition" wire. case your picking up unwanted interference due to a shit connection somewhere.

also worth trying is a supressor on the alternator, and the 12v supressor box of tricks that maplins also sell (my bro used this sucessfully to stop whining in his i-pod in his Mk4 spitfire :) )

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

had the same problem with mine a couple of weeks ago, fitted a new amp and started getting crazy interference. the backlight on my boost gauge was causing some of it as it was looped off the stereo feed.

Fitted one of those ground loop isolators aswell onto my RCA's and that killed nearly all of it, i'm still getting a little bit of interference now which i think i've traced to being from the permanent live to the HU, held one of the little suppressors you get on the coil across it and it stopped so i've got to fit that when i can be arsed.

The battery is the largest suppressor of noise in any vehicle so I would and do run all my stereo amps and head unit from that.
Don?t be tempted to tap off any other source, as you?ll just end up trying to get rid of the noise with more money and bolt on fixes.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.
