How do chaps, not turbo related but thought i'd ask anyway got a pair of opening rear quarter lights for my austin but the seal that retains the glass in the frame is knackered and a guy on the austin forum said that the seal(thin strip of rubber) is the same on a mini!

Anybody had to change these rubbers before if so where can i get them from and how easy is it to do?

Very easy to fit.
It may be worth a question to your local windscreen guys for a generic rubber.
Most of the mini suppliers stock it, as i see minispares is out, sorry. You could phone them to check??

Did that page say out of stock yesterday as i can't see it now, looks fine at the moment, we have 100's in stock, i think he was referring to the seal between the frame and glass though, this is no longer available but you can use 47H9535M and cut to suit.

If you mean the bit between the steel band and the glass, I did it on a Metro once.

I broke the glass and the local breakers only had newer models where the glass is the same but the locking mechanism in a different place so I removed the glass and swapped it to my frame....

Easy enough to fit, just use plenty of swarfega as a lubricant, BUT..... getting hold of suitable rivets to hold the steel band back together was a pain. They have to be very short otherwise they push the band away from the glass.

For the rubber you could try

or

and there will be others but I doubt they will have an exact match.

I would say get down your local breakers and raid a Metro or similar, on the ones I dismantled, the rubber was still fine.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???
