This past 10 days of Mini problems have been a $#^(67. Solve one go on to the next failure etc etc. .
I re-torqued the head today, reset the VR Sensor Gap to .030 and started the engine, no problem.

While verifying the .larger .030 gap resolved the backfiring problem by running the engine up to hi revs (which it did),

The blasted steel Trigger wheel just flew off the aluminum pulley!!! I always wondered if the 2 small loctited screws were sufficient??

Would appreciate inputs and maybe a better mounting system for the Steel Trigger to the Aluminum Pully.

Thanks

Thats worrying as I have 4 4mm screws holding mine and they are loctited too. Did you use HT screws ? did the screws break or just come loose ?. Maybe the steel trigger wheel is a bit heavy and clunky ?.

Do you have a picture, it would be easier to try to understand if not.

When you say you have an aluminium pulley, do you have a crankshaft damper on there?

Yes, a picture would help.

One of mine is held on by 3 off 6mm screws but I machined a small step on the back of the pully first which centralises it and carrys any radial loads so the screws (theoretically) do very little.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Why not use a TF trigger? suppose postage might be pricey to the states but you'll never have to worry about it again.
