you only need to allow for chain streach on a new chain surely. Or is the chain a bit elastic when the engine is runing?

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

are you sure your getting 105
get a 2 deg offset key 1 deg stretch on new chain like wil states
and turn the offset round the other way

i presume that its an phase 2 cam ?
reprofiled ones are 110 deg as standard if you line the dots up so 2 deg gets it cock on the other way around gives you 107 and it will streatch 1 deg giving you 108

hope i havent blown your head keith *Nerd*

Hmmmmm? Think I'm gonna check it over again! It's a phase 2 from avonbar (repro) and a new chain and light steel gears from ms but with all the numbers going on it was getting a bit emotional :).
Am I not correct in thinking 1 degee at the cam equals half at the crank??? And that's what I'm measuring???
The head is all cosy an wrapped up in the house at the mo, pics of it all built up to come, sooooo exciting :)

time the cam in at 108 deg on the crank from TDC. on the piston

full lift on number one inlet place a push rod in there and the DTI to measure full lift @ 108 on the crank

And don t try to find the full lift point just watching the DTI - note the degrees at ,say, 5 thou before and again at 5 thou after and then split the difference in the degree figures to set the maximum lift point. Because there is always a bit of dwell on the nose of the cam at full lift it is difficult to establish it otherwise.
