I'm fitting a standard MG Metro turbo setup to my (non turbo) MG engined Mini and I gather I need a fuel tank with a return pipe for the pressure regulator.

I just managed to get my hands on an MPI tank complete with the fuel pump, is the pump suitable too or do I need something beefier?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I tried searching but didn't turn up any conclusive answers.

how about a more powerfully engine? I was told the mpi or spi tank would be good up to about 100bhp much more and you would need a larger capacity pump?

The mpi pump will be fine the spi used a lower pressure pump (now discontinued anyway).

I thought that you need 3 psi above maximum boost. So if you want 1 bar (14.7psi) you need 17.7psi of fuel pressure for correct delivery into the carb if your using a carb! I'm going to try the spi tank as it's good to 1.1 bar (17psi ish) and use 7-12 psi of boost...

no no no no, you need more boost! you can never ever come on here and say I have enough boost, that's just silly.

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

Iirc the SPI pump gives about 15psi so is suitable for about 10psi, the MPI is about 3bar I think ? So obviously more than enough.

Thanks for the replies everyone, looks like the MPI fuel pump is indeed a go. I am thinking of running something like 10-12 PSI of boost so I think it will be more than adequate.

Oh, to answer your question almichie I am indeed sticking with the standard MG Metro Turbo setup including the carb. I needed to get the tank because the car is currently running on a carb.
