how easy is it to alter the fueling of the HIF for boost applications?

can i just go ahead and file down the needle myself?

or is there some special art to doing it?*tongue*

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

Get yourself an air/fuel meter, fit a lambda sensor into your exhaust, and hey presto you you can now profile your own needles. That's all i use and i know others do to without any problems.

Here's a picture of a unit made by Gregor off this board. Looks a great bit of handywork.

Yeah, I'm a scientist but I'm not sure about needles.

I had a load of Morris Minors and used to bugger about with my own needles. I used to use a lot of estimation in my work, run it up the hill with the ignition well advanced and then listen to where it "pinked" and with a semi educated toss of a coin and roll of dice used to whack a bit off. Really you need to get it pinking, notice the position of the piston and whack some off there. Best done on a brake. I was wondering whether I could speak to the local garage and use a combination of air/fuel meter as well as rolling brake to initially set mine up. I've decided to tow it to the nearest rolling road though! Bearing mind I have Prog Ign as well. I'm likely to break something.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

I use wet'n-dry 600 finishing with 1200 rotating the needle in a cordless drill.
