Australia oi oi oi!

I have just bought 4 new gears.

I have some old stock Genuine Synchro rings that have done 10,00k's

they grab on all the gears bar 2nd gear.

it just turns and turns with no bite like the others, is this normal?

could i have a faulty 2nd gear?

i can't see a problem they look to be made to a very high grade.

we are going to order some old stock GENUINE rings to check it's not my rings.

anyone had a problem at all?
im leaning towards it being my bulk rings though.

cheers. :)

Check that the cones are fine, and that there's at least 0.8mm clearance between the baulk ring and gear face.

thanks Vegard

it all looks normal like the others.

same clearance just no grab.

does that make sense? i reckon it's the rings.

will report back once i get some new ones.

You don't need to feel the grip. There is sufficient grip.
I prefer old rings to new ones. The old ones have been used and are therefor round. New ones aren't I'm not saying that new ones are bad or not needed, but that old ones might be sufficient.

Just a thought, with 0.8mm being the minimum clearance what is an ideal clearance?

Before building up my sc box I want to make sure after 10k miles it does not start crunching. I would like to avoid buying aftermarket bulk rings as they are all rumored to be shit, and have a nice selection of used ones to choose from anyway.
