I know a few have you havn't gone down the usuall route when fitting big brakes under 13" wheels. I'm looking for some bigger brakes and looking for ideas on what to go for. Ideally I'd like to use something out a race series as there is a better chance of some good pad compounds being available.

I currenly have the minispares carbon pads, which are very good, just feel with the extra space I have under 13's I could make use of it.

AP 2 pot alloy calipers from an Elise can be had cheaply, then use a 2-piece disc off whatever with a seperate bell to get the offset you need.

we ran the same tyres all weekend 048r's, Grip was much better but handling wasn't as good, but still quite predictable. We found with the extra grib the rear camber brackets where bending, I'm going to have to make some of my own which are simular to the KAD ones without the £100 price tag.

Really looking forward to fitting 13x9 slicks

Anything you can do to improve the handling back to the levels the 10's gave you?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Is there much of a weight difference between new and old rims?

I also have the minispares carbon pads, fitted into alloy 4 pots, expensive at about £50 but very good stopping power would recommend them!

the 13's are about twice the weight of the old 10's, so that aint going to help, I think we could do with softening the shocks off a little more to make up the for the less flex in the tyre.

If anyone saw me in my first session out they would have seen how twitcy it was and it needed to be softend up from the 10" setup. This was a massive step in the right direction.

I think with more time the 13's could be on the par with 10's

Those with some peugeot 205 Bendix floating calipers and Drum Brake hubs.

Should have a large brake conversion for under £300 all in, and new

Jim if you have his number it may be worth speaking to Ricky who does Paul Clarks Miglia as he is looking into it for mine but the option was going to be wilwood 4pots with VW golf vented discs and they look like they clear my 13" supertrax wheels

Jim, note that not all the wilwoods come with dust seals,

seems to be a good range of pad materials, 1144 1155 plus the polymatrix pads are meant to be good too.

In superlites you can just get 10.25" discs (same sizes as the golf discs I think)

Also I went for big pistons in the calipers to give more power (4 x
44mm IIRC)

they are good, the main problem i've had is they are rubbish in cold weather with the 1144's in there, in the summer though you can repeated hit the brakes from over a ton and get tingly balls lol
