I recently purchased a 1968 MG Midget that has a race prepared 1275cc engine by C-Tech and a Garrett T3 turbo from a mini. My problem is restarting the engine after I have been driving. On occasion, the battery has run down trying to restart. I was told that the heat from the turbo may be affecting the carb and fuel left in it after shutdown. It is quite annoying to have to sit there and crank and crank before it finally catches. Any ideas? |

Bury your foot when starting it from hot, thats worked every time I've tried to start a turbo mini. On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

Yes, I do have a heat shield one eye. I think evaporation is the problem but how do I fix the problem? |

Have a look into heat wrapping it or buying a turbo blanket to insulate it further. This is what I've done with mine and had no problems what so ever. 1/4 mile in....??
