Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of this beam on the road?
http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=...id=38131&title=
what are peoples thought on it? my concern is the high levels of stress about the bolted joints and the material plastically deforming under the high loading from the road.

Cheers

Ive had one for about 4 years and had no problems with it. I don't no if you no but the box section has great big blocks of ally to stop crushing of the box section and helps stop any deforming.

I did however have to trim a small amount from the top (where the bottom of the rear seat panel sits) to make it fit

Hope this helps

As Chris mentioned above. I had to mod mine in the same way to get it to fit. Its as if Minispares screwed up their measurements.

But it fits and it works. I also double skinned the heal board for the additional bolting points.

I'd make my own next time or get one of FastCarl.

I drill holes in everything..!

What gets me is that you replace the subframe with a beam axle, but leave the cast arms on. They weigh more than the subframe!

Thanks for the pictures and advice guys, im in the process of designing my own beam, aluminum is a consideration.

What are the issues people have with the Huddersfield beam?, obviously the inner mounting brackets are shit.

When I have £450 quid lying around they will get replaced.

I saved about 12kg over a standard subframe with brackets and everything else. Probably more when you consider the whole coilover assembly weighs only 1.8kg each side.

Only about 4kg isn't there between standard and light radius arms?
