hi there as you can see in the pictures there a tapped hole just before the manifold, any ideas?


also there are 2 small holes non tapped in the other picture are these standard?

Don't know why they've been done but they sure as hell aren't meant to be there.
On second thoughts they could have been done to test manifold pressure/temps and the likes?

Far too small for anything other than a thermocouple or pressure tapping.

Are they 1/8" BSTP or NPTT, that would be normal for thermocouples (although mine are further down the manifold.)

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Thermocouple(s) are used to measure temperature, especially for very high temperatures like exhaust gases. up to 1,200 centigrade or more.

People who are developing engine management systems often use them.

I can't think of anything else other than pressure or temperature that would need a hole drilled/tapped before the turbo.

Wideband sensors are M18 - so a much bigger hole - and it would be far too hot for one there.

1/8" BSPT or NPTT, the usual size for thermocouple bosses is about an 8-9mm threaded hole, which is what that photo looks like.

Check the thread size accurately and just plug it with a mild steel tapered plug.
