Hi, can any one help i am rebuilding a metro turbo engine and i need a new transfer gear housing, will a standard 1275 or 1000 A plus unit fit on to the turbo engine ?

If not would changing the drop gears enable me to use the standard housing?

Many thanks Dij

The housing will fit, but the standard housing uses a smaller bearing on the 1st motion shaft nose (bottom gear inside the transfer housing).

You would just need to replace the bearing on your gear box with one to match your casing Or get the hole in the casing machines out to suite.

998 and 1275 transfer casings are the same with the exception of the crank case breather not being opened up and the fixing holes being taped. Again, this is easy enough to do.

On the whole, Metro Turbo engines use the same transfer gears as standard 998/1275 A+ engines, although there are some engines on the cut over between A and A+ that got what ever was available.
