MY BAD LUCK

Pulled the head off the mini this afternoon to check the extent of the head gasket failure at castle coombe.

Im guessing we clocked up a few more laps then we thought before the symptoms was auidioble, have checked the peak boost recorded on the boost controller and peak was 13psi, I was keeping an eye on the wideband while driving and mixture was rich.
These things are sent to try me, but at least its an excuse to build a quicker one!!

luck doesnt seem to be on any of our side at the mo.

Atleast the bad weathers upon us, so we can get ready for next season.

You have my heartfelt symathy tom. Coombe was its last outing for 18months so this is no major setback or problem.
The block is scrap, head with a skim is salvagable, pistons crowns look fine, just hoping ringlands have survived.

A bit of a shitter yes but there is no point stressing over it as the damage is done. I went out and got shit faced last night so got it out of my system! Det is a possibility, I was chatting with a lad I know last night who owns a sylvia and uses the same boost controller as me and he claims to be having issues with boost spikes, but not 100% if this is the case with this failure as it only logged peak at 13psi. It was a +40 block with omegas and 28cc benross head so believe to cr to iro 8.2, as for the advance I believe it not to be to much, iirc 24 degrees, but have no means of checking, my desktop is dead and laptop wont work with the lead I have for the MJ.

Again?! lol there is a certain element of deja vu with my posts! just have to treat each as a leaning curve and apply lessons learnt to the next build.

Thats propper crap Shane,
This type of failure is starting to be common of late I have seen it on two race N/A motors over the last year.

Im starting to wonder is our beloved BK450 not the gasket it once was ?

I did wonder if we had another batch of suspect gaskets as this one has covered no more than 100 miles since myself and Nic unecessarily replaced it. But on the bright side this one lasted just over a year which is a personal best I believe?
