Is the spi and mpi pump the same size roughly for example can you take the mpi pump and fit it into the spi tank?
Reason I want to know this is, if this is possible I'm sure I read somewhere that someone got the walbro 255 pump into the mpi tank.

the answer to first post is - yes!

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

Indeed Quinton, the better the foundations, the better the product.

yea the fuel pump wasn't keeping up and that's where he started running outta fuel. Plus the afr was way out. I really can't complain I guess as being its first RR I never knew I had this problem till now.

I thought it was a pretty good result and a little tuning will see it edge up - was it not 80 at the wheels?

If I were going to uprate the pump on your engine (is it a std mech one?)I'd go for a facet red top with an adjustable reg for 3.5 or so psi -an mpi pump would be running at 48psi - not good for a carbs float needle!

The idea John is to run a walbro 255 with 10 mm flow and 12 return with a regulator to take it down to 4 psi at idle and it can stay like that for na and when she is turboed next year it'll all be ready.

Sorry forgot to mention is has a facet pump in there already and not a mech one. Could be blocked fuel filter causing it to be down under pressure but without looking through my receipts for what it actually is it might only be a baby fuel pump. But regardless it needs to be changed and yea that was at the wheels but I know it should be more than but first time on the rollers (must add I was nervous) I didn't know about the problem till it appeared.

Last carbie mini I had made 87bhp with a mechanical pump, so if your power figure is at the flywheel, I would think the fuel pump you have should be more than up to the job.

I run a 255 walbro, but I had to buy it on its own as there were no kits available when I bought it.

Be warned though. I had massive issues with crazy overfuelling at idle on the SPi manifold with the walbro fitted. I put it down to the fact that the regulator could not handle the 255 l/h.

Had no issues with it on the K1200 fuel rail though, although a little noisey.

I would have also thought that a 12mm return is a bit OTT?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

It's only cause I don't want to put a restrictor on the supply line but will see if the regulator can handle the 255 pump. The link up top is for a kit for the dpi and moi tanks. We'll see.
