Collected the block from the machine shop(kilmarnock engines) offset bored to 73.5mm and decked by aprox 3mm giveing me 8.07:1 cr. If its too mean off boost il raise it by skimming the head a tad!
Chuffed as theres stil quite alot of meat between the cylinders.

pistons fitted to rods, and after a good few hours spent sorting out the ring gaps i built up the short block. More to follow but got alot on my plate ATM so progress is slow.

neway nice shiney pics : -

that looks good - just the right amount of off-setting - i'm sure you won't get any head gasket probs there... *smiley*

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Yeah it does look very well machined. Nice and even.

Cant wait to get mine to that stage. Still havent found a local short engine to rebuild yet!

Cheers, wel AC recomended getting al bore centres moved out .015" and thats the result.. lot more meat between the cylinders than the other 13.5mm block iv got sitting here.

uhm spec so far: -

Unleaded Mg head, wil get sodium valves if i feel it needs them, but for now its gettign left alone, just reseated the valves and fitted new stem seals on all 8.

Kent266 cam.

Std bottom end.

running it in on a standard box and drops (no turbo *tongue*)

3.11:1 FD
.

thats the spec for now, when i save up more funds(month or 2) then the fun wil start, Just guna strap on al the normal metro turbo bits n bobs, and slowly upp the boost, as wel as get my teeth into gearbox rebuilding.. aint decided on a final spec for the setup :) depends on money and if the engine holds together or not!!! :)

sounds like a good spec to me, but watch the CR with those huge pistons!

You can't find a cheap 1275 anywhrere? It doesnt need to be a turbo block...

CR is curently sitting at8.07:1 with the standard block height the CR was only 6.something : 1!!!! they have a very low crown height and a googe 16cc dish. if anything i want the CR a bit higher!

to anyone whoes interested
some of us ( me ) are a bit older than some of you
about 8 years ago i did a 1380 turbo , off set bores etc , no problems what so ever , ran 12psi for about a year ,then had a mishap with the bleed pipe and blow a piston , the mid range torque at 2 bar has to seen to believed , but you have to be quick cos it only lasts 3 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....
