I fitted a set of lowering springs to my 200sx yesterday and am concerned how close some of the coils are when the car sits on the deck.

progressive springs are like this, the closer the coils the softer the spring this allows for travel without the spring dislocating however they do look a bit close together

Its right Shane, mind did the same - its to allow the car to run low enough, but also so that the spring expands and doesn't come loose from the seat when at full extension. On 15th Jul, 2009 fastcarl said:

Progressive springs on lowered cars work in that the two windings compress at different rates allowing for the shock to absorb small bumps but also be able to absorb larger bumps with the same ride comfort otherwise every bump in the road would feel like landing on your arse after jumping of a cliff.
