I searched here for the options/thoughts or pic's off bonnets with ais scoops [or is it scopes?] or releated..Couldn't find it,only some bonnets wich where "mounted the wrong way round"on the mountigpoints..with a open side at the scuttle..
The hot air inside the engine bay with a turbo engine is pretty much and i want it gone asap.

Should i blow cool air in like a subarau ? = open side at front
Or should i created a vacuum? = as on pic's..

What's best and why?
So what do you have ? *happy*

This is mine..created from 2 corner pieces of a mini roof and a mid section of a roundnose mini bonnet..
As you can see my car is a clubman [estate]

the pics, 2 and 3 show a good placement, allowing hot air to rise out the engine bay when stood still, but when moving the aerodynamics of the mini will force air down the vent ( scoop *wink*)

Aerodynamics is even worse..it's a clubman 8-)

The idea was to create a sort of vacuum behind the open side while driving that sucks out the hot air..
Sort of the same vacuum principal as the back off a lorry..that's why the road dirt is always the worst on the back off a lorry.
It gets sucked on to the back in a sort off vacuum-storm / tornado wind thing..
[hard to explain in another language..some simple things]
But you probally get my idea / thought's on it.

As brett said, the scuttle is a high pressure area while the car is moving, hence the air flow will go in the opposite direction than you intend.

in theory it would work like that, but the whole front of the mini act's like a big fat scoop so mounting the bonnet scoop backwards, gives better flow into the engine bay
there is a thread on here somewhere buy ( i think turbo dave)
demonstrating this with some string,

raising the back of the bonnet 'to let hot air out' ( as they say) actually cold air gets pushed in down the back ( good for a carb imo)

@brett, thanks for the pdf file..made it all clear and visible for me.

Do please explain : carb imo ??? = Is it a nucliear meltdown of the carb or ice-ing up the carb or anything else..?

Any other options on removing hot air from the engine bay?
Or push in as much cool air as you can get in? Cause the {hot} air flow will disapear for the far most under the car..

[al in driving conditions..no standing still with engine running..]

sorry, non turbo with a carburettor and k&n filter, the air intake is at the back of the engine bay at the top, the raised bonnet or backwards facing scoop is a good cold air intake *wink*

imo = in my opinion

so good for a carb imo= good for getting cold air into the carburettor on a non turbo engine in my opinion*happy*
