ok ill start from the beginning. its a 91 Mayfair automatic, Ive taken the engine out and replaced the sub frame with a manual one and put a 998cc manual engine in from my other car. all electrics are wired up just the way i took them off, Ive used the starter motor from the auto that worked fine its a inertia type one, Ive also used the ignition coil from the auto.

i know the car has the wiring for the neutral switch which ive located under the car Ive connected both wires together to bridge the connection and still nothing. Ive also noticed when i put my side lights on the nearside doesn't light up but works fine when dip and main beam is on.

Ive checked that the inertia switch is getting 12v and it is but the ignition coil is only getting 5v. Ive checked the hazards, brake lights, reverse lights, wiper motor and fan motor and all work fine could some one please advice please

Flat battery? Engine earth strap not connected?

Is it connected to the shell and in good condition?

You will only get 12v at the coil when you are cranking as you have ballasted ignition at that year.

Was the ignition in the donor car ballasted? The dizzy in the manual may not be compatible with the ballasted ignition so you may need to swap the across.

Was the starter that was on the auto an inertia type as the wiring and flywheels are not interchangeable.

the earth strap is connected to the shell and its bran new and the other end is connected to the inner wing and has been sanded down to bare metal so a very good connection.

i don't know about the ignition coil being ballasted but if it helps the donor car was a 85 city E 998cc.

the starter motor with the inertia was from the auto the donor had the old type. so do i need to put the old starter motor back in

Is it a verto clutch (short arm on the wok)? If so you will need to alter the wiring to suit the other type of starter as the starters and flywheels do not mix and match
