what do you guys think

Don't know where that diagram came from but it isn't "positive switched" as per it's title, it's ground switched (most ECUs switch to ground).

Also the two switched terminals are both marked 87 (one should be 87a) and they are both shown connected together so the relay does nothing :)

What oil pressure switch are you using, standard or the Metro Turbo special "backwards" one ???

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Sorry, won't work....

Standard oil pressure switch grounds when there is no oil pressure so if the relay coil is fed with 12V (as per the diagram) and the other side connected to the standard oil pressure switch, the relay will operate when there is no oil pressure (just like the warning light glows with no oil pressure).

If the relay is then a four pin (no 87a) then the pump will only run with no oil pressure, the opposite of what you want.

I hope that makes sense.....

The relay depicted does exist. It just has an extra 87 pin.

the feul pump is possative switched, but the relay is ground switched

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

would this work with the 86 connection going to the oil pressure switch

Why are you using the oil pressure switch? Use an ignition live straight to the relay and put an inertia switch in the circuit.

smudger ill draw you up a circuit for using oil pressure as the controlling factor for the fuel pump as I'm doing this with mine.

Sorry to interupt this discussion, i have an MG Metro turbo and the fuel pump is not coming on when you turn the ignition on but it was before the battery went flat. I have located the fuel pump relay but i cant find the fuse that powers it... if it is located in the main fuse box the fuse is ok because i checked them all!! Oh and just to clear things up, the pump is a competion pump which was brand new less than 12 months ago!

Please Please someone help! The car has only done 61,000 miles with FSH. Oh and forgot to mention the fuel guage starts to move when you switch the ignition on but then it changes its mind and goes back down again (not sure if that is related) and there is half a tank of fuel in it.
