Hi guys im new to the forum aswell as the forced induction side of things. i have an engine spec in mind but not sure what is needed for the tubo conversion and the turbo to use, so was wondering if you guys could look over what engine spec i am planning on and if it is any good along with the turbo choice and parts needed.

*1275 engine rebored +60 using omega 10cc cast pistons, (hopefully bringing the compression down enough) iv read it needs to be aroud 8:1
*HIF 44
*ported and polished 12g940 with 37.5mm inlet and 29.5mm outlet (Not found out the combustion chambers yet)
* minisport 1.5 roller tip rockers
*RG, Ni-Tempered, X-Drilled, and Wedged crankshaft
*MED lightweight pulley kit
*Lightened set of A+ conrods fitted with ARP bolts
*swiftune sw10 cam
*swifture vernier duplex timing chain
* swiftune SC roller drops
*minisport SC gear box
*ATB diff
* megajolt ignition

Any help and opinions you have would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Liam

You should start with a horsepower target. This may be useful

Is the SW10 cam suited to turbo use?

rest looks OK

im not sure about the cam its just that there have been no reports of any1 using it befor and i would like to try it out. apparently it is like the MD286 just a bit better on emissions. as for power i was thinking somthing in the region of 130-160bhp.

thanks guys

a 286 cam is too lairy for a turbo engine. a 266 style came is much better.

you can probably get away with the SW10 on a supercharger setup,

Joe means supercharger.

For turbo choice, forget the T2/T3 and have a look at the Gt1752.

Forget 37mm inlet valves. Definitely not clever for a turboed engine.

If its your first turbo build there is nothing wrong with using the standard metro Carb, turbo, exhaust/inlet manifolds etc.

It will make the first install alot easier. Get the engine in and running and then think about swapping turbos etc at a later date.

cheers for ur help guys. sorry for all the questions. just trying to get my head round it all.

I may be totally wrong, but given you've got a bigger valve in there. there is less area between the two valves so more prone to cracking.

exactly that. ^ turbo engines will be developing alot more heat in certain places and hence between the valves being a buit more prone to cracking. ive enlarged my exhaust valves a bit and have sodium filled valves, the inlets arnt a massive amount larger than standard tho.

ok so if the valves are too big and are prone to cracking with a turbo would i find the same problem with a supercharger?
