Just been tapped up right well and proper on ebay. Bought a water cooled T3 for the next generation of motor to be fitted in the mini and it is basically scrap!

Central body that houses the turbine shaft and bearings will require an expensive bit of turning and designing of new parts to get this thing anywhere near serviceable. My mate who used his account to purchase this for me is unwilling to leave negative feed back as he does not want negative feed back from the seller.

There is no way on this good earth he could think this was useable. As for not knowing why the half moon clamps kept coming loose, total bollocks, why then was there packing washers fitted under the semi circular clamps.

Ill post up his details in the relevant thread so you can all be aware of this individual should you come across anymore of his ebay sales.

As Brett says, seller cannot leave negative but your mate needs to open a case/dispute ASAP as well as the negative.

eBay is a really bad place at the moment, I have two "cases" open against fraudulant sellers and another I'm about to open but am waiting for his "solicitor's Letter" that he promised I would receive when I "threatened" him with negative feedack for not actually sending the item.....

And all these three are "Registered Business Sellers" on eBay. I've spoken to Trading Standards about one of them (because the address was suspicious) and Trading Standards have confirmed the address is not registered as a business, but may be "Sole Trader" in which case they are simply evading business rates and income tax.......

But, MrJoshua, why on earth aren't you using your own accout on eBay, it makes recovery so much easier ???

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

I have avoided ebay and paypal for as long as I could. businesses cant up and vanish at the push of a key and a face to face can serve more than people know. I was considering getting a recon unit or buying new which is what I may well do, but took the chance and am now paying for it. Also I am in a sort of partnership with my friend who has a well established business and trades world wide so it seemed to make sense to use his account as he did offer.

With my recent experiences with eBay, I will almost certainly be avoiding it as much as possible in future.

did you pay with paypal?

issue a dispute asap as said. the seller cannot leave negative feedback. paypal now offer 100% buyer protection - if you are not happy with the item as a buyer, they will refund you and ask you to send the item back.

If the item wasn't as described on the listing...dispute it. :)

There seems to be some real nobs using ebay now.

I've lost track of how many things I've bought 'new' that have been used or damaged. I'm sure some people must think that once it's out of their possesion it's no longer their problem. *oh well*

When the auction was finished the bill was paid right away, two weeks went past and still no turbo, his claim was that the money had not been send so he was sent the unique tranaction code, twice, still no turbo. I prompted my friend to open a dispute which he did.

Now here is where it gets a bit funny. It is my understanding that once a despute has been opened Paypal will not alow the seller to draw the funds until the despute has been rsolved, the seller in question only released the goods once the despute had been clossed. Now that we have been sent the item even though it is a pile of crap another dispute can not be opened over the missleading add placed for the item. In short according to my mate our hands are tied.

Is this true or not

It might be an idea to ring Paypal and ask as it's true you can't start a second dispute.

Australia oi oi oi!

you need to put the dispute upto a claim.

so if it was only 2 weeks it will still be open.

easy. escalate to claim.. if you want to fuck him..

say you never received it.

you will get ur money back & keep the turbo.

i would not do that, but yes if he deserves it give it to him.

I'm in a few disputes at present too, and you have 45 days to raise a dispute. Also if the item was paid for via paypal, you should be protected by them too. I got a total refund through paypal on one item, then they chase the seller for a refund. Hope that helps

I bought a fibreglass bonnet a while ago off ebay.
It took fucking ages to turn up and when it did it was the shittest thing ever and broke after 2 days of having it (not even using it) luckily i got my money back as eBay and Paypal are bias towards the buyer (not a good thing for honest sellers)

To be honest, he's obviously being a dick so take him to the cleaners, so to speak.

As for the bits you're unclear on. You're right, funds can't be withdrawn with an open dispute, if the first dispute wasn't resolved then you should be able to open a second now you've received it. I'd open the second dispute with ebay for misleading ad.

I bought some 10" steels off ebay the other day, £1.70 I won 'em for and £29.95 for delivery. He's now saying that he made a mistake and that delivery will be £42. He asked if I want to pay the extra or cancel the sale. I said he can pay the extra and send me the wheels as it's his mistake. Nob

The one I've returned, seller won't accept - Royal Mail's tracking just says card left, no response so I'll raise it from a dispute to a claim on the 7th day (when Royal Mail return it to me).

And the one who promised me a solicitor's letter if I left negative feedback just sent abusive messages when I reminded him I hadn't received the solicitor's letter after a week of waiting......

MrJoshua, inform Trading Standards in the sellers area - you can contact most of them by eMail, Sheffield (in my case) were very helpful confirming that the seller wasn't registered as a Business at the address he gave me.

there are some real con artists out there. when i sell i send parcels recorded. all a dodgy buyer has to do is claim their money back from paypal...item and their cash back. only problem is that it costs more to post recorded, and you get marked down as a seller for charging slightly higher postage rates!

paypal protection is good, its a shame it has gone this way though.
