I need to sperarte my turbo from the exhaust housing. This was only put on a few weeks ago, but I can't get it seperated now. I want to strip it down before I repair my manifold.

Its been soaking with some antiseize shit over night, and hopefully when I get home I'll find the pixies have done it for me, but if they havent then I'll be in stuck,......so any tips?

Id clamp the exhaust housing in a vice, leave compressor housing on, then tap the compressor housing with a dead blow nylon mallet, as squarely as you can, should come off.

Had this problem many times, only way is brute force I find. Just be careful not to let it go on the piss or the turbine will hit the housing.

Jimbo, try putting it in the oven for an hour, hot as you can get it, see if the turbine housing will grow on its diameter enough to pop off a bit easier.

I would recommend you have your tea before you do this, and preferably whilst the small one with the large boobies is not looking.

After seeing JImbos dishwasher parts washer, do you honestly think this is an issue Tom?

big hammer and spin the turbo as you go, if you find it starts to contact, start hitting 180 degrees from where you were lol only way i have ever got the more stubborn ones off.

Warwick.

used to have this problem all the time at work.
it was always a brute force jobby, made some big drifts from a hardened steel shaft and pretty much hitting it on the centre housing (usualy on one of the flanges, fitted bolts into the oil outlet flange to stop them colapsing/deforming) to try twist the housing free. Some of the real bastards had to get heated up with the oxyaccetlyn and sometimes still wouldnt get freed :( as good as scrap if they couldnt get reconned
