ive noticed the boost gauge is reading minus 20 inHg on tick over and when im going throu the gears it peaks at 0 and then drops to 20 inHg till i build up the revs and my dump valve is making no noise its a Bailey DV 24. i can see the piston inside the DV open when i accelerate and close when i release the throttle. could this be my actuator because at the moment ive mounted it half open does it need to be fully closed to gain boost

Have you taken the feed from the one way valve for the servo? Or maybe part throttle lean off? I have done both before now. Lol

Is this on Axle stands? If so you will not be producing any load hence any boost. Also having the wastegate propped open by the actuator will cause it not to produce boost.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

All looks right, -ve reading at idle is correct.

I would say you aren't making boost, as you say that you have mounted the actuator half open your problem is obvious.

Even at full boost I bet the actuator/wastegate never reaches half open. In fact you actually need pre load to make boost. that is the actuator should be pulling the wastegate shut.
