I need abit of advice on where I stand regarding the situation below please.

We live in a really quiet Cul-de-sac, so quiet that the only people who come down here are the people who live here, the occasional visitor or the postman. I've noticed a few times a scrappy has driven up and down the road and once I saw him walk right down our drive, there is a tatty old Beetle parked at the corner of the drive and OH keeps random Mini parts in front of that. He had a look at the Beetle and as I got up to go to the front door to ask wtf he was doing he put a card on the windscreen and left, it's happened a few times usually when we're at work we'll come home and they have left a card under the wiper on the VW. It's pissing me off as if I wanted it scrapped it either wouldn't be there or I'd ring them the first time. But recently we came home from work and a bunch of the Mini parts had gone, they are all metal that OH either wanted to keep or use at a later date. Bit pissed off but we left it, however OH managed to smash a bottle there so there was alot of broken glass over that area. Then a few weeks back we were at home and it was late so dark outside, his mum came in and mentioned there was some broken glass at the end of the drive. Went out the next morning and more Mini stuff had gone. I am near as certain it's these 'metal recycling' blokes that keep coming round but obviously I have no proof it's them so can't grass them to the Old Bill. Am I within my rights to tell them to get/keep the fuck off my property? I know it's just a driveway but they aren't actually delivering anything so have no need to be there in the first place. I'm just worried one day we'll come home and the Beetle will be gone Plus, I'm also slightly worried if I tell them to kindly piss off they'll trash my house/cars/etc as they strike me as quite pikey.

I had a pair of metro subframes outside my house and they went "missing". Unfortunately I doubt you will be able to do anything about this behaviour.

report it to the police that there knocking about and this need to be sorted. as you have had things stolen.

you realy cant do a lot wit this type of mutant. as they come back with a dozen, to give you hell, its that bad around where i live thay have even sawn the brass tap off the alotments.......get that

Tresspass is a civil matter so the police can't help.

I would suggest you move the parts from the beatle to somewhere more secure or make the beattle secure. Maybe get some pallet wrap and make it obviously secure.

However you have had property stolen, so it's your duty to report it and your suspisions to the police.

Get a camera up, you can get them of ebay for a few quid these days.

This is not a tresspass issue, it's a theft issue. I'd be on the blower to the rozzers.

If possible move the stuff somewhere where it's not visible.

Have you asked the neighbours if they have seen anything?

It shouldn't need to be said really not to leave piles of inviting stuff easily accessable. Put a sign up saying not door traders and tresspassing etc so at least if they fall over the stuff their nicking they can't sue you.

Not much you can legally do to be honest, the law is weighted in favor of twats like these unfornunately.

i am with wil its theft but if you have no cctv or witness your stuffed, stick a dummy camera up and a sign saying neighbourhood watch cctv in place these can be bought off the bay for peanuts

I agree get a gate and keep it locked when your out, i don't think it helps where you live as there is no one around to witness what goes on. its worth letting the police know stuff has been taken incase it happens again.

we've had bikes taken from the back of our house, i tend to keep everything either locked away or out of sight now.

There isn't really any way of putting a fence or gate up at the front but all the stuff has been moved now. It's just the Beetle that's left. I'm not really too worried about them getting into the back garden as the gate at the side of the house can only be opened from the other side, the dividing wall is over 6ft tall and next door have a dog :)

It annoyed me they nicked our stuff but it bugs me more they keep snooping round the house, I'm very funny about privacy and security especially at home where I should feel safe and so should my property.

I'll ring the Old Bill just so they have it on record and get one of those dummy cctv cameras too. I know it must be them otherwise why would they come down a road where everyone (except us and the people opposite) are retired and stuck up?

They are a nasty pathetic bunch. Usually we don't have any issues round here but now they know the cars we keep they'll probably keep sniffing about. If it were legal I'd electrify the Beetle

cops wont even look into it if they say they will, wild goose chase for them they will never find them anyhow if they did how do you prove it in court?

thats what i got told ( by the police) pikies round here are keen as fook often come onto the drive when im out working scrounging for metal
even had an argument about my steel flip front that i was fitting on, i was welding the mounts onto the chassis, happened to look up when they was carting it of on to the van saying we'll take it for scrap mate, t' get it off your hands, a good exchange of french later and they havnt bothered me since, there is atleast 7 other van that come around on sunday to fight off lol

if they want it they will get it. on our road my nabours and us have had thousands stolen.

lawnmovers, tralers, horse box, horses and farm equipment. We had 10 foot steal gates and they just cut the hinges off!

get a cam like a night owl, you might be able to see who's helping them selves. if you get his plates its a start. good luck

I didn't mean to get them nicked Brett, I know they won't catch them and probably don't care, more to report it so if it happens again or one of us needs to call an ambulance for them they can't say they weren't warned

I'd move the parts and if you see them put one foot on your land shoot them.

I'd report it. nothing will happen but if there are enough reports in the long run, the police should eventually make an issue if it.

I'd also cover the car - in my eyes it makes it quite clear its for keeps

What you need is a brown porsche to block the beetle.

They never come round to my drive and ask if I want it taken away unfortunately. The perfect deterrent.....

I don't condone violence, but then if you don't do the crime you won't take the punishment however unjust it is.

I had a car hi-ab'd (not sure how that is spelt) from in front of my garage and a microwave from stolen from my back garden in the same day police won't touch it and I swapped the insurance to the mini the week before so can't even make a claim, gutted!
