Look just want to let you know im sorry to everyone, i get so much stick on here from just trying to ask simple questions. This website is the best one ive been on, its a nice atmosphere, nice people, good to read other peoples problems, and the event days are awsome. But i seem to get a bollockin so much! I dont know if its because im only young, or because i do so much wrong, but i am still learning! Im not a mechanic and have learnt everything from scratch since getting my mini. I dont have any local mates who know much about mechanics of engines, so everything is pot luck when i do it so yes i do ask for alot of help.

I think ive done well building my car, and its built to a really high standard too. Every day i spend about 4 hours when i get home (8pm usually after work) and all my weekends getting my car improved or just servicing. Ive changed the oil 6 times since getting it on the road, just for the hell of it, ask pot_dan.

I really was glad to get my car back. mainly because of the condition it was in, the new owner was seriously neglecting it. I have built it up from a crappy mayfair im sure dan will have the photos to put up somewhere, but this year i am going to uni. I will need to get myself a reliable car, and i would love a 318i the old retro boxy ones. thats why i see getting the red metro back as a good idea, ill still have something to do on evenings! Living in keighley is utter crap, nothing to do at all. Having a project car is the best thing ever, i guess thats why i got bored having the clubman estate or mi16 205. So please dont be so harsh, i never comment on anything any of you do and try help out with spares and stuff you want all the time

You need to STOP taking other peoples opinions to heart as their negativity seems to be getting you down and if they?ve got nothing positive to say it's probably not worth reading or listing to anyhow.
:)

Chin up chappy and do what you feel is best for your current situation. *happy*

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.

feebs
i sent you a pm ; then found out about your car selling antics again

for what its worth here is my opinions

1) dont take everything to heart ; messages on a forum have no emotion so sometimes are misunderstood
2) DONT sell your mini ; mate you love that car; as you know I am and old man of 38 with 4 minis ; and all I can say to you is you WILL regret it ; a metro cannot ever ever ever take the place in your heart for a mini ; especially your 1st one !!
I dont want you to think i am just 'having a go' I just know whats right in this case MINI .... pure class !
3) of course you must do what you have to do ; and I have never taken the piss !!
4) if u do get rid of ; you will see that I am right

Same as above, don't take it to heart. But you must admit that to the outside world, it is an odd move to sell a car, buy it back, spend a good amount on it tuning, rolling road, new parts, taking the head off looking for washers (that was a joke BTW *wink* ) etc etc, and then to sell that very same car that you missed like hell last time. But, of course only you know your situation and what you want from a car so at the end of the day bollocks to what everyone else thinks.
Also another comment you make gives away how much you love that car, you were glad to get it back because of the condition the new owner had it in?? If you were ready to sell it then (and now?) then although you might be a bit put out, you wouldn't feel the urge to buy it back?
If its a Metro you want then go for it!
Also I will say that getting a everyday car is definately a good move. Reading some of you and your mates exploits took me back about 6 yrs to when I was 18 and had a mini as my only car, driving about with bugger all brakes or bump starting the damm thing down an A road on my own at 5.30am to get to work........anyway, having an everyday car is a good move as no matter how much you look after a Mini it nearly always needs something tinkering with or sorting out. I had a Peugeot as an everyday car and used to check the levels once a week, it never needed a thing, even the screenwash bottle was so big it lasted over a month. A BMW is as good as anything else, be warned that you will probably find insurance will sting you for the BMW badge, and also correct tyres might be a bit of a shock. Also I expect you know but be aware of common faults with E30 318i's, e.g. head gasket failure, or top end camshaft wear, they seem to be quite prone to these. Also quite commonly the fabric on the drivers seat will be falling to bits. Oh and have you driven one yet because for an 1800 engine, fast they are not.......

Anyway all the best in whatever you decide to do.

Feebs, don't take it to heart, the humour is very 'dry' on here.

Take a step back and think about what you've said you're doing/going to do. You must admit the buy back option thing was pretty funny :)

Pm'd you regarding daily transport.

FEEBS well buddy what can i say ?

the amount of sh*** i have had to deal with in my life and harsh critisism if it was on say MS word WOULD FILL a 180 gig drive

so f*** em all (in life in genrall) i mean *wink*

i remember some 260 years ago i was just like you are now,
but*indifferent*
take on board what is usefull reject whats not and you will be fine
its not meant that way at all buddy. the critisism on hear*wink*

i tell you not my friend, chin up! and PM me you are only down the road from me come have a pot of tea and see my motor and would love to view yours i looks great to say the least.

i have so much to show you it would take a week:
also you can pick my brains but that only a 10 second job.*smiley*

stick with the mini feebs if you sold it and say in 10 years time you will regret it so much especialy they dont make them anymore

get a old reliable banger to use as a work horse say a diesel that means more money in your pocket cos more MPG
that leaves more money to spend on the MINI TURBO*happy*
and take it to shows etc etc
also the salt kills the bodywork solid, DEAD *frown*

mine only comes out april to sept and then only when the sun shines NOT in the rain I DONT use mine for every day transport it would be too costly
but i do give it lots of TLC

ben*happy*

Depends on how much it is worth to you. If you haven't got one and need one then I'd say that its a fair price. Personally I wouldn't pay that much for it but then again I have got 2 or more of each in 'stock'...............

'In Stock' not the same as 'For Sale' !!!!!!! *wink*

But you are right, keep your eye out on here as quite regularly you will see people advertising carbs and turbos for sale.

Feebs dont sell!!! lol as the other guys have said you will regret it. *wink*
I sold my last mini nothing special but really wish i had kept it now, Iv got a second car Alfa 146Ti aswell as me mini, is loads easier cos you can spend as much time as you like working on the mini knowing that you've still got a car to go and get bits in lol.

But at the end of the day it is your choice, I sometimes think i'm being a pain cos im 21 and have very little knowledge too, always asking questions i'm getting there tho lol.

Goodluck with whatever you decide

Cheers matt*smiley*

There you go! Not so sure that you do get stick, you ask lots of Q's, but that's nowt to worry about. If the mini ain't for you any more, then sell it; It's your choice. A big bag of gold is hard to pass by at times - so long as you DO get the size of bag you're after...

Sorry for being so sensitive. It does seem like all of you have a second car, I never thought of it before but that could be a really good option.

Btw, i found out what my "rust hole" was, you know the drainage holes....

It has rusted arround it though and needs sorting at the bodyshop. Im going to look into getting a diesel 205 thats a good idea thanks

thats what i do guys
i have a 306 diesel and an old mondeo flying armchair as my work horses

everday run rounds
great on the pocket with the MPG the 306
and as a back up motor the mondeo which only does say 2000miles per year

this saves the mini for nice sumers days and i can work on it till my hearts content as i dont need it for work etc

cars are so plentiful now at megga cheap prices

plus the salt dont get to the mini which
Rapidly KILLS IT
