i don`t think i will do Pikes Peak now,,, damn planes keep breaking,,, & the boat takes 3 months,,, so unless i somehow have enough time & money to spend 3 months on the boat getting there , another month stuffing around getting the race done,,, then another 3 months getting back home,,, well,,, maybe a lotto win would help i`d buy my own damn plane & make sure it can glide if there`s a problem

If you do pikes peak i sponsor you with a "Lord Humungus" face mask:) is it a big difference with the wings on? well,,, i havn`t run with slicks or wings on it before so i really didn`t know what to expect,,, so,, i figured that i`d run it with the slicks & no wings on the sat,,, then put the wings on for sunday soo,,, i just cruised around saturday, trying to learn the track,,, it`s a bit tricky this one with sooo many corners looking the same (But just arn`t,,, some tighten right up & some are open & i don`t know which is which yet-still) so i`m just tooling around treating this whole weekend as a site-seeing adventure if you speak with all the guys up there they all seem to have stories about where & when they have crashed there,,, so i`m just chilling out & simply circulating, developing a "feel" for the place,,, (((not my wheels/tyres BTW so i really didn`t feel like binning them))) But , the damn thing wouldn`t step out anywhere ,,, it just sticks,,, i kept going a bit harder & harder each run, but it`s no where near its grip limit even without the wings,,, the last run sat arvo where most were going slower as the track cooled & the shade & shadows appeared & the sun was in our face late in the arvo, but here i was dropped another whole 1.2 secs where most went slower on that run so i stuck the wings on ready for sunday ok,,, so sunday & it`s been raining,,, track is wet & i still have no idea where i`m going... so i just tool around again , just for a gork & see how wet the track really is & where,,, but the sun comes out strong & it starts drying up really quick so i`m pretty happy to give it a little more of a push on the 2nd run well,,, it feels good, tight, tidy ,,, sort of "Firmer" & more confidence inspiring ,,, But 3/4s the way up the hill & suddenly i feel it stepping out a tad,,, not bad mind but seems funny cause i wasn`t pushing it hard at all... so i`m a bit like ,,, "this is strange",,, i chill out & just totally cruise to the finish... i pull up into my parking spot & all this oil stuff runs out from under the car,,, ooops,,, the sump has bottomed on the road & taken a little piece of alloy with it,,, oil on the back tyres barely made it squirrel at all seems to me the whole car was sucked to the ground pretty well & mmaybe i have to lift the ride height with the wings on ??? & even tho i backed-right-off the top 1/4 of the track, i still dropped another chunk of time I "Definately" have quite a few secs up my sleave on this track so i will gradually lift my game here next year. 13x10" slicks going onto the front for next year too,,, i can totally fry those little 10s in any gear so having to drive it light throttle everywhere reminds me too much of the dirt racing
sorry about long post i`ll report back after Mt Cotton hill Climb in a couple of weeks,,, i know that place pretty well, done it heaps, so it may give me a better feel for what the wings are doing www.miniman.com.au
