I've been hovering around on this site for a while now so thought I'd show you my piece of crap car.

I got my mini at the young age of 14.
It looked like this:

about 4 years and a grand later:

Since then it's had around 5 grand spent, around 7 engines.
I had a 1380 motor but it died, so now have a 998 to keep me going, while I rebuild the 1380.

It now looks like:

SPEC:

Suspension:

Metro front hubs
adjustable bottom arms
adjustable tie bars
hi-los
gaz shocks

Brakes:

Goodridge hoses
vented discs
metro 4 pots
Standard rear

Current engine
998 stage 1

1380 spec:

73.5mm bore = 1380cc
powermax dished pistons
turbo rods
turbo crank
Kent 266 cam
standard pressed 1.27' rockers
duplex timing gear
Ported MG Metro leaded head v
valve sizes are: Inlet = 1.401"/35.6mm, Exhaust = 1.15"/29.2mm
Double valve springs
HIF44 carb
Alloy heated inlet manifold
ram air foam filter
minisport lCB
Maniflow 1.75" single box system
3.21 final drive
metro turbo diff
1275 distributor
standard clutch (for now)
Centre main strap
Cheap chinease radiator
1275gt oil cooler

Interior:
Recaro rs2000 seats
Cheap ebay dash
harness'
mountney wheel
some gauges
Safety devices 6 point cage, removeable diagonal.

I've got the majority of bits to turbo it now aswell. Which will be added to the 1380 motor. I'll run it N/A again for a while until im absolutly ready to add the turbo parts.

Standard Metro turbo setup, escort rst intercooler, cheapy dumpvalve.

I have a thread on TMF:

But its realy boring, long and far too detailed.

Everything is done on the cheap, because im a student living off my loan. The car is my daily driver aswell!

Turbo parts collector at the moment, almost ready.

What happened there? Did the balljoint just work itself loose?

Sorry if it's clear from the pics, I'm on my phone.

The top of the hub where the balljoint cup screws on, sheered off. It was this that made me convert to the metro hubs.

naaaa it's honda vivid blue pearl. I've killed a few engines, but ive got bored of some and just moved on. Oddly it was my £200 1380 engine that lasted the longest.

Been building my 1380 engine which I will run N/A for a while, and got used to and fitted the megajolt.

Then will source a new head, get some 28cc chambers in it, and fit all my metro turbo parts.

Sorry about crap phone pics, I hope to have it running in the next few days.

Yeah, wasn't too bothered about the balljoint, it fucks up every other week, being that its a budget built car, driven hard everyday.

Rebuilt.

Cleaning everything, and polishing all gasket faces is taking ages. Hopefully it'll pay off and i won't have any oil leaks.

998 out

Nice big hole, and me being a twat.

Didn't get a pic of it all welded and the bulkhead fold for the actuator, quite happy with the outcome to be honest.

Tomorrow, a bit of paint on the bulkhead, 1380 motor in.

I've got a cross pin diff and straight cut drops on their way to me from a couple of members off here.

And my crank pulley should be back from the machine shop soon, so I can fit my megajolt in the next coming weeks.

Nearly there now.

It might be stating the bleeding obvious, but in the picture of the balljoint failure it looks like the locktab has never been bent up...

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

It had been, doesn't look like it in the pic, but at the back you can see it had, I re-used the locktab and had to flatten it first. That's all in the past now, running metro hubs, and moving on.

Got it going today, well once I got the dizzy the right way around *oh well*

It's got a bad knocking noise up top somewhere though, it runs great, with fantastic oil preasure etc.

I think the rocker shaft/rockers might have shit themselves, so will give it a go at changing that and fit a better carb.

Check that a rocker isn't hitting the cover.

Did that, I was hoping it was that simple. No marks on the inside, and I tried 2 different covers. I've got a rocker assembly with me so I will give that a go.

Got this all machined up, I know that your not meant to have the wheel on the outside of the damper, but plenty of people do it with minimal problems. Still no idea whats knocking though.
