Afternoon all, my names jamie I'm 19 with a couple of mini projects, I'm doing a vtec conversion but my priority is my 1380. I plan on a bizzarre setup for it, a supercharger for the road and a turbo for the track, hopefully ill be able to switch between the 2. So atm I'm just beefing up the block, sccr gearbox, forged pistons turbo ported head etc. I'm not looking for massive power, 125 from the supercharger and around 150 from the turbo would be more than enough. No doubt ill be on here posting for help a lot so I thought I'd give you a bit of a background. I'm also a coded welder so the fab side isn't a problem. I'm also more than happy to send my wage packet into the mini every month as I'm still at home *happy*

Isn't there any advantage from running a supercharger over the turbo for mid range torque? I thought it would be better just for the turbo lag?

with modern turbo's the lag isnt really an issue any more,

the only place a charger wins is it will provide boost down at 1-2k rpm, but personally i think this makes the car a bit undrivable in traffic,

Just a weekend toy, don't need a car for work or anything. Then up the power for trackdays from time to time :) you in any club?

Then I'd say go turbo if your wanting it for track use, more power available.

I was in NAM but we've drifted away from it now.

Have a read around there is lots of information about the pros and cons of turbos and superchargers. I would have a good read and look at other cars around to see what can be achieved.

This site is a little like an episode of QI. There is a lot of turbo info out there that is wrong, out of date or plain dangerous. We are here to try and correct a few things.
