hi there people, I've been reading through TMF posts and found that this forum existed!! I was thinking of going the supercharged route, but I'm swaying towards a good 180hp turbo now *happy* I have the block, crank and rods, and will be buying the rest as and when i can afford to!! cannot wait to have a fast wee mini now!!

I should mention that my mini is still in disarray... will have to get them sills and the front end welded up pretty soon!!

so anyways, Hi people!!!

Hello Big Yin.

Personally, i would say you should get the car up to scratch before you think about an engine!

Suspension brakes the lot.

Reason being is, its all good and well having an engine that puts out high numbers. But if the platform isn't there to support it you wont be getting the best out of the engine.

thanks guys!!!

Hi sam, already got that covered! doing bodywork first, making sure it is 100% solid, i had welding done on it, but still wasnt happy with it so i'm just taking each full panel off one at a time and I'm now able to weld myself so I'm re-welding full panels in, with new re-inforcements where needed (ie the back subframe mount that holds the captive nuts and welds to the heelboard).

Next is brakes and suspension like you say, good tires (got myself a set of 5x10 rostyles to put em on), then finally engine. I can afford everything but the engine at the moment so just want to ammass knowledge really. I've got a block and a few other of the major parts, so hoping to get the rest of the engine for about 1500 or less if possible... I've got a 998 I've rebuilt to put in it for now just to get me on the road, but 40ish hp just wont cut it for long... haha!!

thanks *happy*
