Running standard boost at the moment, and wanting to turn it up a little, what is a safe boost level without running an intercooler?

Cheers

That depends on compression ratio, Temps, Fuelling, Timing etc.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

i wouldnt run anymore than 7 without any mods tbh. if your car is perfectly set up 10 would be fine.

Cars getting set up on RR on saturday so fueling and timing should be spot on, will 8psi be safe enough? , is their any way of running an intercooler without removing the front grill?

Have a look at some build threads. You can get a quite substantial intercooler in without having to loose the grille.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

unknown compression ratio and running without an intercooler, i wouldnt bump it up to much mate.

get the carb set up, drive it till you get an intercooler, then enjoy the boost! :) i could be talking out my bum, but then i like to play safe

Doesnt have to be front mount, could always get a front mount rad to keep temps down and go side mount like nic did *smiley*

in your case I would use a bit of water injection to clean the upper boost of det.
8 psi is the max safe limit that you can use , then anything wrong (hot day bad tank, engine a bit hot..)= piston kiss

then if you use an 8 psi trigger with WI you'll tun safely up to 12 psi (it is where the a seri come to live), there is an engine tone/note above 700g/11 psi that make you feel right.

Never heard of water injection, will do a bit of reading on that, what's involved and what will I need?

was going to buy an intercooler few months back, but didn't feel confident doing my own plenum chamber, are they easy to come by? That suits both dump valve and intercooler?

Have a read of this before going with water injection.

Got it set-up yesterday at bog brothers, north yortkshire, very good, definstely worth the hour and half drive, would reccomend them to anyone, made 96bhp, he said that was at the wheels? Can't see how it would make that sort of power with a standard turbo engine?

Anyway will be ordering a manual boost controller this week and a decent boost gauge, decided on running about 8psi for the time being, then getting antercooler and turning it up some more *happy*

Decided I am now going to run an intercooler, looking at threads etc trying to get ideas for sizes/location.

Am I right in thinking one pipe goes from one side of the intercooler to the turbo and the other pipe goes from the other side to the plenum chamber? Or is there more to it than that?

PM Giallofly aka Jon Flanigan. He's the man for modding metty plenums.

Or if you get the horn for shiny things pm Nic for one of his and Hywel's Plenums of sexyness. £120 posted I think?
