hi all,

got a DAM5626 gearbox case, wich has a pinion bearing retainer thats only supported by 3 bolts.

Would it be wise(or even possible) to drill an extra hole in the gearbox and tapper it, so that i can mount it with 4 bolts?

thanks

No,

The DAM5626 casing was made specifically without the fourth hole because that's where the earlier casings cracked - though that bolt hole.

Leyland/Rover just didn't bother re-manufacturing the retainer plate to make it look like it matched :)

thats fast .....:)

so, that means the 3 bolt casing would be stronger...?? and best to use with a modified engine instead to the other casings...

^^^^^^^

Like he says :)

If you had a DAM2886 to put alongside it you would also see that, as well as the deleted bolt hole, the casting in that area has an exra strengthening ridge on the DAM5626.
