Today is a sad sad day. It has come to the point that I’m going to have to sell my metty in order to finish off my mini project. So now to the point of this thread, I’m unsure whether I’d be better off selling the car complete or selling the engine separately.
It’s a 1989 mg metro with the engine, interior and wheels from a 1987 metro turbo. The shell is in really good condition, especially for a metty. The engine is standard with roughly 50k on the clock I think, the carb has been rebuilt and the fuel regulator is new. The only non standard engine components are Swiftune alloy centred timing gears, an MED ulralite verto flywheel and an avonbar modified high boost actuator. Here are a couple of pics.
Any advise would be great, I need to get as much as possible. My mini is a bit of a money pit :(

metros are now commanding quite good money now - although its not an original turbo, i'm sure you'd get a fair price for it complete

Simple. If it's a rot box strip it and get your money that way. If it's a good car, get it up for sale complete.

Your's looks like a good one. I will advertise it on the metro owners club site if you like.

I admit metros are crap (co=owning a shedy one myself), but good ones are getting rare as they are often seen as engine donors.

well i quite like metros. I guess i'll try and sell her complete then. Any ideas on roughly what she's worth, it's hard to advertise when you've got no idea, and i don't really wanna whack her on ebay and risk getting f*ck all :(
and carl your wheels are awesome, it's just a shame that i've had them since 2006 and they've only seen a few hundred miles of road use, they do make a lovely ornament tho, haha

Any turbo engine will fetch £500 on ebay, but as yours is modified it would bring more than that. Genuine turbos are fetching good money with T&T so it's hard to put a value on it.

If you're not sure on price, put it on ebay with a silly reserve. If it gets up to something you would accept at the end then make a second chance offer to the highest bidder.
