Hi guys. Im new here and i usually deal in Bmw's so any help you can give me about my metro would be great. I fancied a random project so I just brought a 1989 Austin Metro L 1275CC. I know its an A-series engine but i have hear loads about A and A+ etc but have no idea what the difference is. What is mine?

Also i plan on turbocharging it. I know the pistons wont last long at all and the compression is too high, but if i fit a spacer plate or tripple layer head gasket etc will i lower the compression enough to be ale to run low boost. It doesnt matter if it blows up after a week as i will the pull it out and do it properly when i can afford it.

What exact parts will i need to just to do this on the cheap?

Thanks for the help guys Regards Loz

that second site link is magic, will learn alot off there. has all you need

easy way to tell if its A or A+ is by looking if the engines smooth or has strengthening ribs on it. i would put my money on A+ tho.
