HI

I have standard metro turbo engine, nothing special. Running 6psi.

my Actuator/ Wastegate is not working properly, I guess it is too old and is half way to end.

So I want to buy New one, Can any one suggest What to buy?
which ones are you running?? Originals or from other cars??

Thank you very much

Nothing special!

-31 cossie actuator should do the job nicely. Or if you have money to burn a billet one.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

The -31 are uprated Cosworth, the standard actuator is good for between 10 and 15psi depending on the pre load, and can be bought for pence off ebay.

Also I would love to buy standard if it will do the job, and will be cheaper than this one :)

Or should i spend bit more and buy this one??

what do you think ??

Thank you a lot!!!!!

If its running 6psi, what is the problem with your actuator ?

As Tom has already said, the -31 is an uprated Cosworth actuator used by those who want higher boost than standard on a Cossie.
Standard Cossie is -16 (from memory) and it delivers 0.5-0.7bar (7-10psi) with the standard factory solenoid bleed valve (Amal valve) so I presume the standard Metro one is a lower rating still as it does 4-7psi wth the factory solenoid valve.

I suggest posting in the "wanted" section for a secondhand standard metro one.

But if your current one is "not working properly" are you sure it is the actuator and not something like a sticking wastgate ???

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Thank you for help, i will try to get standard one because i am running 7psi,

what is difference in waste-gate and actuator? is it same the same part?

my turbo unit is not working properly, sometimes it is not working at all and sometimes it shows 7psi and i can feel when it goes on :)

Also if i have standard actuator and want to put 11psi through boost controller will it work properly or will it damage it?
So probably better to buy -31 and if i will decade to run more psi it will work properly and safe??

Thank you for help :) :)

the actuator controls the wastegate

it wont damage it, because it will still see the same 7psi, the boost controller would 'trick' the actuator into thinking the 11psi at the manifold is still only 7psi.... in basic terms

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Really, if you're asking those questions it would be better getting someone to do it for you.

The w/g actuator is a total pain in the ass to get access too for starters.

You can't really change the wastegate as it forms part of the turbo on the T3.

I think you need to take the car to someone who can diagnose the problem, before even considering such rubbish as a new turbocharger.
