Hi,
there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

Take the crank out of the engine. You will know if your thrusts are damaged, they will look like this

It really depends on how bad the damage is. Maybe you could post a pic of the damage ? "So wat we gonna do tonight Brain?"

I saw worse than that recently. They had dug a 1/8" groove into the cap. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

I believe that wolfie couldn't find his when he stripped his down. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

how many miles had the engine done? 2 meter:) It was the first drive since the rebuild.
Now i can hit myself, the engine dropped in revs but i tried the clutch one more time and then i heard a noise that said: This is going to cost you some more money. Looking at the damage on the crank and thrust i'm starting to believe they were put in the wrong way. Not by me, but i should have checked it, dammmm. A hard lesson. there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

What is the optimal endfloat when going turbo? The same as when going N/A :) If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

the back does not have any copper on it to start with. I assume the thrusts have spun especially if you found one half in the sump? On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

I was, at that moment pretty pleased because i did not have any other thrust at hand when we put the engine together. This is too much in my book. Aim for the lowest, ie. 2 thou. The parts were still in place but the part that is missing lies in the sump, in pieces. And one side of the trust is completely broken (see photo) the other side is the side with the grooves. The grooves are now filled with material. When i removed the bearing cap the trust fell out so am not sure how it was mounted. But one side of the trust is worn en so is the crank. This would mean that the trust were mounted the wrong way. And what Vegard says with to much endfloat:$ there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

0.005" thrust is fine I don't agree.. This is too much. If however going this loose, the bearings should be ground flat. If installing brand new ones this loos, they'll open up at least one thou after the first 18 revolutions. The brand new ones are far from flat. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:
