If it's in decent condition (which he says it is) you think it's a good deal?
I always get worried when I'm the only bidder as it makes me think other people know that it's shit and I'm missing a trick.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I could make 50quid again by sticking it back on ebay so I'm not too worried about that.

Just wondering whether it was a good price or not but we'll find out when it gets here.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I didn't think you could use diesel turbos on petrol engines?

yip, the difference in turbine wheel material is a myth, with few exceptions :)

Some say they are made of least cast iron (the some being one of my colleagues telling me with blueprints to back up his statements that the turbo I got was limited to a steady 500 °C and 700°C tops)

Anyway, I'll have to wait till it runs ...

the only material failures i have seen of turbochargers are ceramic turbines off some old jap stuff, and i put these failures down to old age more than anything else! seen plenty of diesel turbochargers used on petrol engines. if there is indeed a difference, oe tolerances arnt the same as ours, i mean, who would be hauling a caravan up a steep incline on full chat in there mini *wink*

Maybe the stated temperatures are what the car manufacturer regards as least / what he is ready to pay for whereas the material and process require something stronger ?

Anyway in 2010, manufacturer are cutting on everything, replacing oversizing with engineering to the limit.
So I wouldn't be surprise if my diesel turbo is burned to junk when (if) I ever drive the car properly ...

Well, we don't have the same definition of properly ...

I am thinking fairly fast not Conan the destructor learns about heating up the engine ...
