the amount of amps the ceramic element would consume at 12v would be immense to create anything near what the mini heater is capable of

never had a problem with my heater, always been man enough to keep the car and two occupants warm on a winters day. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

I have one of those little ceramic heaters. Draws about 15 amps and can barely manage to keep the drivers side of the windscreen from fogging up, never mind heat the interior - and this is in sunny Oz! On 24th Dec, 2008 Nic said:

But if the picture in your avatar is correct, it would be quite difficult to heat the interior - even in sunny Oz - as the "interior" is the whole planet
Seriously though, back to the original question, 15A at 12-14V is 200 Watts. To get even 1Kw (which is still not much) would need 75A and a massive alternator. Use the coolant system, it's heat that has to be thrown away anyway and won't use engine power driving a massive alternator. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |
