I'm building a programmable ignition module. It gave me 6 options to use for the sense signal from the engine. Points, hall, reluctor etc. I had a spare unknown metro electronic dizzy - I decided pull it apart and it's a coil around a magnetic centre with 4 points that spin Around it with another 4 points that are fixed to the vacuum advance system. Is this a reluctor??? Or have I been really fucking stupid and made the mother off all assumptions - a wrong one?!

no no no no, you need more boost! you can never ever come on here and say I have enough boost, that's just silly. On 29th Mar, 2010 Star Mag said:

I'm not actually using the module on the side of the electronic dizzy. Just straight out from the coil to my ignition module. On 7th Nov, 2011 apbellamy said:

I'm afraid the first bit just doesn't make sense...

Somi had a spare unknown metro electronic dizzy ??? Who/what is Somi and what dizzy is it, remote module or side attached ??? On 17th Nov, 2010 almichie said:
shouldn't the coil of wire bd continuous giving continuity when checked ??? What is bd ??? If you do a search in the EFI section, someone a while ago tried using the internals of the electronic dizzy by itself (no module) and also failed. I can't remember why but it's possible the internals need power from the module to work. But if you have ripped it all apart, why not just fit a Hall switch or Optoswitch in place of the original internals which we know will work as some of us are using Hall switches/Optoswitches in dizzy bodies to drive MegaSquirt phase sequencing quite successfully..... (EDIT - to make more sense) Edited by Rod S on 17th Nov, 2010. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

The dizzy is the 65dm4 type with the module that is attatched to the distributor On 7th Nov, 2011 apbellamy said:

I found A topic on the mini forum with someone stating it's a hall effect - anyone else heard that? On 7th Nov, 2011 apbellamy said:
