Can you not use the marks on the pulley? I am assuming you are trying to do it at the flywheel end?

I haven't a bloody clue what you are trying to do. Start from the beginning and explain what you are trying to achieve so we can help.

The dizzy can be removed at any point. Don't forget to also remove the dizzy drive at the same time.

If you are fitting megajolt, you can leave the dizzy fitted, but just disconnect all the leads.

EDIT: disconnect the coil too...

thanks and sorry for the confusion. im trying to take my standard dizzy off and plug it up so i can install my MJLJ. i want to install the trigger wheel with the engine still in place, thats why i was looking for TDC at the flywheel because i thought trying to find it at the pulley would be hard to fit the VR sensor correctly

In that case I would leave the dizzy where it is until you have the MJ fitted and working. That way if you can't get the MJ working you can put the leads back on the dizzy and off you go.

ok but the reason for removing the dizzy is that it cuts out after 3500 RPM and i need room for my intercooler

Still better to leave it in until you get the trigger wheel installed right and MJ working right....

There is a plate with several pointers, but one big one, on the timing chain cover, bottom left looking from the radiator.

The pully has one small notch in it.

When the notch is next to the big pointer it's approx TDC.

The notch may be hard to spot.

If you have trouble finding it, take the rocker cover off and rotate the engine until both rockers on either No1 or No4 cylinder are the same amount down (one going up, one going down, but both about the same) - that is very close to TDC so you should then know where to look on the pully.
