First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

1.get a small latex glove,
2.cut some holes in the end of each of the fingers,
3.feed through each of the HT leads through them and seal with cable ties
4. fit over distributor
5. go play in the rain

i tried the glove technique with mine, worked for a bit but it gets sweaty in there eventually and makes matters worse. mines a right c**t for misfiring in the wet, all you have to do is spit near the dizzy and it fooks up.

THe golve method was apperently used by the rally teams on the monte back in the day!!

If your leads, cap, arm and coil are all NEW then you dont need a sheild!!!!!! On road or track none of my minis have the sheilds and work fine all year round!

I dont fit the sheilds because I take them off for a service and never remember to put them back on!!

lol - i have never had a shield to begin with. So im inclind to agree with alex, if your componets are in good condition it will be fine.

stowmaket suffolk

try just a piece of foil over the grill infont of the dizzy that should do the trick, it will look a bit of a pig but who cares this time of year.

but alex is right if you have all new gear then it should nt be 2 much of a problem, but there is only so much water and damp the electrics will keep out.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

as big as it needs to be to cover everything up.... depends on your layout, a big bit of sheet rubber would do the trick, cut it with scissors then.

Are you still running points ? I've never had a problem in the wet ever, with electronic ignition. The standard one or the aldon system have both proved reliable.

Points as phil pointed out will not like the wet, metro electronic stuff works for me without the aid of rubber gloves and shields etc.

Gialloflay it looks to me that you do have a cover over your distributor in the way off an intercooler ( or oil cooler )

Well spotted hagis eater!

It's the intercooler but it is hardly waterproofing is it?? Lets face it are are design to have air running from them so water also gets through.

On the occasonal time i steam clean the engine/ignition never suffers from water ingress, i've used points before and they suffer badly from this.

Good point...

I've never run points... they are a poor archaic system that was replaced in the 80s by BL themselves!!!
