Well a swirl pot is basicly to stop fuel surge, i would beleve a must on any injection car , it keeps the fuel in the pot at pressure , so say your at the last gallon in your fuel tank and go round a corner fast the fuel swashes to one corner and the pump carnt get it out.

Not really a problem with the funny shape Mini saloon tank.
