Put the ring into the bore, then use the piston to push it in about an inch (the piston will make sure its square in the bore)

check the gap with feeler gauges and open the gap up if needed.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if you have had the block bored and honed with a skirt clearence of 0.002" overall, jus fit the rings Correctley and fit the pistons, ....job done, the accralites are presision pistons and the rings are perfectley gapped

It is good practise to check them though. I always do, although if your boring man is good you shouldn't need to adjust the gaps.

It does indeed depend on the bore size you'd want to run...

However, I always bore my blocks 71.12mm on a +20 and the (O)megas are always or very close to a perfect fit.

Safest way is with a small flat needle file. Ring held in a softjaw vice one side of the gap, end of ring protruding very slightly above vice jaws so you can file it, but not protruding so much that you snap the end of the ring off.....

Gap between piston and bore measured at the skirt (ie, at or very close to the bottom of the piston) and measured at 90 degrees to the gudgeon pin (ie, front to back on a transverse engine).

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Yes, but the selected bore of the engine builder might vary.. Race engine, loose bore, road engine, tight bore.

my ring pack says 71.25 bore so im guessing that's what accralite reccomend.

would a points file do the job on the rings?

That sounds strange. Are they .030 pistons?

Bore the block to the MEASURED piston diameter PLUS the recomended clearance.

Be sure to measure the piston correctly!! at the very bottom of the skirt, at 90 degrees to the piston pin. Use a micrometer, not a caliper.

I do not care for what it says on the box. Measure it!

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Why not phone where you purchased the pistons and ask them the recommended bore size and ring gap?
