I have a 1275 A engine with a T3 turbo. When I purchased the car, the previous owner said the boost was set at 8lbs. I want to reduce that to 6lbs, how do I do that?

Thanks, good info. I think I will stick with 8lbs for the meantime until I get to know this system better.

i saw a pic of a boost control unit at this url

http://s609.photobucket.com/albums/tt176/b...pictures058.jpg

What, actually does this do? Where can I get one and how do I attach it to the turbo? Can I use it to reduce the boost?

google my friend!

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=in+car+boost+controller

6th one down has full instructions and is exactly the one you posted a picture of :)

a bost controller like this bleads off the excess pressure fooling the turbo to think it hitting 8psi when it is hitting 12-15psi

if you are adding more boost you NEED to add more fuel so dont just turn that shiney nob!

Yep we had serious problem with the ball and spring kind. Cost us the vans first engine IMO

i was using one of these bleed valve but ended up ditching it as it was iritic boosting at different levels, that was according to each of the guys i had tune the car so ended up going for an electronic jobby like the jap guys go for and now have totally stable boost and have never looked back.

2 stage at the push of a button go from 6psi to 13psi there is no guess work as to what boost its running you set it and leave it and just use the button to switch between them.

now for the downside there not cheep i paid £100 for mine alot of people will say its a waist of money but im more than happy with mine.

Whatever you use it WILL NOT be able to reduce the boost from the rating of the actuator.

To reduce the boost lower than the actuator setting is not possible (well it is, but it would be pointlessly complicated). You need something like the standard metro turbo actuator (4.5psi) and then work up from that to your 6psi.
