was talking and thinking of way to mount my 2056 and was thinking of this over the standard setup, reasoning on this:

future cars wont need body mods just bonnet mods (i want a clubby next and dont want to fuck with it).

its unique...ish

exhaust can be made to flow a lot better than the standard unit both before and after the turbo.

will use the standard carb and plenum, not decided on inlet manifold yet.

can anyone see anything that will be a nusience/ or a performance loss?

Yes exhaust straight out the side but with a silencer noise isn't a big problem itl be a very weekend car anyway. Extra benefit being ground clearance with a 3inch exhaust that was planned. Is there any cons on performance with this setup. I don't think it will be sitting as high as the dons so shouldn't be a massive sight issue. Mine can't be as low as yours Joe as mines still 5 post and will be running the hif, I'm liking your setup tho.

doesn't the exhaust have to come out behind the driver for the MOT?

I'm not sure. Something I've got to ask.

this is what i was told by my mot tester but i got him to phone through to double check. Aslong as its behind the front axle your safe also the usual not supposed to be excessively loud but thats at the tester disgretion(sp?)

If you've got the turbo like the one in Joe's car, how are you going to get the carb in?

I think that exhaust would be fooking loud too. Like a chav's saxo!

I say go for it.

We ran a straight through pipe with no silencer out the back of my mates turbo, and my last NA engine was still louder with a janspeed back box.

So With a silencer it shouldn't be too bad.

How about a tractor style silencer, straight up out the bonnet?

Also contemplating whether to add a screamer type wastegate but need to study this, what it's all about and wether it will really benefit me

Mine will sit higher ie out of the bonnet and further forward so the carb will fit nicely behind and below it. If it ends up too loud I'll just route it another way but I won't find this out untill it's done.

i once (had to) run my car with no exhaust on my mirage manifolds, i only needed to go 3 miles,to collect the new exhaust but FK me its far too loud with out a scilencer, even with i doubt it'l be anygood,

Hiff44 mate. Going to sit that behind either on the standard manifold or if needed on a swept down manifold. Will have to wait till I can mock up to see what needs what.

I assume you'll have a manifold made up to have the carb far away from the (really hot) turbo.

Given the difficulties of building such an inlet manifold, did you consider a remote turbo ?

No bulkhead mods and no bonnet mods either.
And you get rid of the potential inlet manifold issue.

I was planning to have the turbo as far away as on a standard metro or more if possible. And heat rises. As said nothing is set in stone and needs to be mocked up to see what's possible. A remote turbo would require me to have a remote servo wouldn't it?

If you're putting it in a genuine clubman, it won't have a servo. They came in in the mid 80's

GT clubbies had remote servo's from the factory I do believe.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.
