These things are too good to be true!

went to visit somone with a turbo 1380 mini in progress, his engine slotted into the engine mounts which had qiuck release pins! anyone seen these? He said they cost about ?25 for the pair! I want some, anyone know any problems with them? They sound awsome im crap at lining up the bottom mounts on my own when working in the garage, takes me 3 hours minimum jacking the engine up and down and stabbing screwdrivers in the holes.

ther good BUT on my daily driver the "pins" got gunged up pretty quick. so was a good idea to grease every time you used em. also removeing teh pin can be a royal pain until you master teh "technique" .. wel whatever technique works for you *tongue*

I think they are crap - it was always really hard to drop the engine into them. One side would go in and then the other wouldnt, you have to lower the engine perfectly level and in just the right place to make um work. Removing the engine was very quick tho as the pins just pull out.

Im back to standard engine mounts by the way...

i have a set of these fitted on my car, as sumpnut says the engine has to be perfectly dropped onto them and even then the pins are very fiddly to get through.

maybe they will be easier once they have been fitted for a while, they might soften up or something?

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

i dont like the idea behind these.

feebs why does it take you so long? you just get it somewhere near right, stick a screw driver in, wobble it about then put the bolt in.

i imagine it would be even harder getting these lined up, espcially when theyve had some where and crap on them.

are they as strong?

I have always got on well with the mounts that have their own captive nut on the inside of them? As they are not that difficult to line up, the fiddly part I find is getting your arm down the back of the clutch cover to get the nut started.......

i agree with tom, ive seen these quick release ones fail, there only poly and it splits easy if not compressed, i personally just weld the nuts to new standard engine mounts, a lot easier than fiddling with nuts lol, and you get the same effect as standard.

Excellent stuff - glad I did that search now !

I've been wrestling with a set of these all evening and haven't managed to get the engine in yet *frown*

I'll have to try the level trick with my trolley jack tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for posting your experiences ! *happy*

i dont get you, surely the bolts just thread in from the wheel side and the nut is welded on so you dont need to hold it, mine were anyway before i changed back to standard lol.
