I havn't really used my mini since the summer and went to take it out this morning for a spin, as i got to the end of the road I applied the brakes and the rears locked up. scared the crap out of me as I didn't think it was going to stop!

It passed the mot as it is.

The car was rebuilt with new master cylinder, completely new rear brakes, and second hand fronts (discs pads and calliper) do you think its the second hand fronts causing the issues or have I piped the master cylinder or proportional valve backwards?!

Rear limiter valve on the bulkhead sticking, quite common esp if the car only gets used occasionally.

it was icey, but i used it in the wet earlier in the year and noticed it locked up then only at the rear. I didn't think too much of it until now.

They only lock up when the foot brake is applied. the spin freely at all other times.

Tom - I'm not sure I have one of those? Its a front -rear split job with master cylinder that feeds into the bulkhead valve - could it be that valve??

Yes, the valve on the bulkhead as per my post. Give it a whack with a hammer and try again, once they start to stick though they generally will do every time.

I'm running 8.4's. So I wouldn't think I do have wrong rears. They were brand new with the rest. Do drum front braked cars have larger rear cylinders than the 8.4" disc cars? I know the cooper s needs smaller cylinders

Retroracer - again they are new, that's not to say they havnt collapsed - I'll take a look. But I'm thinking it's the valve.

Thanks for the info guys!!
