I hope it's OK to ask this here but yous guys know these sort of things. My daily has blown a bulb and it's a HID variety. The bulbs are pretty feeble compared to the HIDs on my old daily. Just to make it clear I'm not a chav but are the 4300K/8000k/10000K bulbs interchangeable? Apart from general access issues are there any additional problems with changing this bulb type compared to halogen?

Thanks!

There are different kinds of HID but so long as the firment is the same it's just like swapping a halogen, however before you do (assuming one isn't working) swap the bulb over to the other side, as the ballasts often fail!

Excellent Evo thanks. I will check the bulb type tonight, I wonder if a ballast is covered under warranty *tongue*

Also Anything above 6000K will be far too blue and will attract the boys in blue. Also from memory 5000K gives the most light, with 6000K being with a hint of blue. Even with replacing bulbs of the same K value and having two of differing ages of bulbs can make the older look more blue

Thanks guys, I will replace in pairs. I liked the old daily drives 8000ks and I think mine are currently 4300ks. I know some Mercs/Landrovers have the 10000ks but not sure of legalities of fitting these to the Renault (although I think the problem is fitting HID units to cars with halogens as stock). I won't be doing anything until the snow clears though*oh well*
