hi,

just have a few questions that I need some help with.

I want to get the t2 turbo manifold set from mirage, as it seems like less hassle in respect to bulkhead modifications etc, and it sounds fun using the smaller turbo.

For this conversion are the only parts needed the mirage kit, and a t2 turbo?
how much should I pay for a good t2 turbo? and what am I likely to get for an average t3 unit?

I read that some brackets need making and parts need moving, but that shouldnt be a problem.

Where is the best place to get braided hose from?, as I will need a fair amount between the fuel lines, oil cooler and converting to metro turbo 4 pots.

What has everyone done regarding their air intake pipes?

Would be much appreciated if anyone could help.

Cheers,

Ian

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

I can get braided hoses. Ive eventually got set back up after moving house! took a while.

ive just ordered a load of stuff today.

Good prices *smiley*

Im just doing the same with mirage manifolds.

For intake pipe id go with silicon and alloy tubing. nice and strong and not likely to get holed and reck your engine.

If you want to know abou the Mirage kit and what is involved best to ask Mirage thenselvs. The guy pops up on here from time to time, calls himself Mirage. Seems a knowlegable and friendly bloke, usually off racing proper cars all over the world it seems.

I'm not sure if anyone on this forum is using the mirage manifold. ther must be though.

I paid 100quid for a t25 from a scrappy - they even took it off for me. Turned out to be a turbo technics recon unit with relativly low milage. Im not sure whether i was lucky or if this is normal to be honest.

I really like the mirage kit and wish it was around a few years ago when i first did the conversion.

Reversing the wastegate isnt hard at all, literally a small cut, swap the actuator through 180degees and a weld + braket to support it. (i belive as i have not done it due to already having a turbo box welded in)

My standard intake pipe from the metro turbo fittd mine,I have a t25 from a nisssan 200sx, not sure what car year tho...

PM mirage or contact the guys through their website:

Lucky lucky lucky!!! Most scrapyard turbos are generally only fit for scrap! If someone has recently spent a lot of money on a recon turbo then they do not generally scrap the car shortly afterwards!

im using the mirage kit, id strongly recommend it and rich is one of the most pleasant guys you will meet (we're not lovers!)

ring him and have a chat he will go through it all.

do you already have a turbo engine?

you need the manifolds, t2, an actuator, oil feed, oil drain, bracket to hold the actuator, and a stablising bracket for the down pipe is a wise idea

i tell you what im not doing much this afternoon, ill write something for the howto section

yep i've got the mirage manifolds too, i've only trial fitted on a spare engine in the garage at the minute,

don't forget about inlet manifold choice either, i think the mg metro is a straight fit, but the mg turbo inlet needs some modification to fit, upto you i guess!

and if you get hold of rich at mirage give yourself some time as you'll be talking for at least half an hour!!
