Just a quickey

Would I be right in assuming that by the time a k1100 head has had a little skim the chamber volume is around 18cc?

Or have I read some misleading information?

Cheers
James

You are almost right. Around 18,5. But measure to be sure as it differs from contonent to continent

Thanks

Looks like I'll need a set of forged accrilite pistons then.

Despite the improved efficiency of the head over the 5 port i'm not happy putting 15psi into an engine with a comp ratio of 9.7:1. That is what I would achieve with the cast omegas.

I'd reconsider the accralites. I asked vince to price some up for me and since omega bought them you may as well buy the forged omega's!

The issue is what happens come rebore time though.

With accrilites you get 3 stabs at using a block- 1293, 1310, 1380. With omegas its 1293cc then another block with the forged items, which is a lot of hassle.

It really is a shame AE have buggered the mega pistons up, otherwise I would have no hesitation in getting carl to modify a set for me and use them.

What about the IASA pistons from minispeed? Do they come in different sizes?

They come in the right dish but looking at the photos they don't look that great, and the company doesn't even have a proper website at the moment, therefore not sure I trust them!

looks the the head office is in Argentina.

Realistically the pistons will be one of the last things I order, so hopefully in the next year to 18 months a product that is suitable will appear.

Forgive my ignorance, I think I must have missed something... what do you mean by this?

Do the forged omegas only come in one size, and accralites in three? I was keen on accralites until the prices went up recently, my next option was forged omegas. What's the difference?

Forged 18cc omega's only come in +20

However you could alsways go for these then if you muller the engine buy +40 accralites at the new higher price.

That's what I was thinking... unless things like pin to crown height are different (surely they are the same though??)
