Hi, has anyone used / own a small portable sandblaster?

If so are they any good? What would you recommend etc - not looking to spend much - but thought it would be handy to have in the garage, looks like there are loads of different ones available.. and don’t want to buy a pile of tat.

cheers.

we've got the sand blast gun from machine mart that we use in a home-made cabinet. its fine for cleaning up small parts before paint but does need a good compressor to keep up.

They require a decent compressor, also make a proper mess!

What kind of jobs are you gonna use it for mark?
ive recently bought a sandblaster cabinet which i can fit wheels and suspension parts in, as rob says you need to have a decent sized compressor for the job even a small one, hence im making some big air receivers to cope, they are a great tool for cleaning up parts prior to paint, Im contemplating buying a soda blaster for doing panelwork as they seem to be quite good?

sounds like my compressor might not be up to it then.. have a small 50ltr 3hp unit.

The intention was to just use it for small parts that needed paint stripping but also on the bulkhead in the engine bay..

What is the CFM for your machine? ours is only a 2HP so yours might be able to cope a bit better

weve got a sandblaster and also a soda blaster combination. it not in a cabinet youve just got a lance. its actually pretty good! from experience you need to spend a bit of money for them to be any good tbh.

i got nothing but time..

I've got one of the pressurised pot type usually around £120 but you need a decent compressor to run it. We used kiln sand (block paving sand) in it as its cheap but you need to seive it first as any large bits block it up. In fact its finished with now so i may sell it so yes its fantastic lol. Seriously though they are good but make a right mess and the dust gets everywhere. Regards Steve

Patina=old and knackered and won't clean up
